PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Wolf Creek Families,

You probably know that we are a Leader in Me School. Over the last three years we have worked not only to teach the stand-alone Leader in Me lessons, but also to integrate the Leader in Me Habits and language all throughout our building.

Next week we are adding another layer of Leader in Me culture by beginning ‘Leader in Me Crews’. During Crew time, students will engage in activities that focus on the 7 Habits, service, and teamwork. Students in kindergarten and first grades will stay and work with their teachers in their classrooms and pods. Second through fifth grades will meet in mixed grade level groups of students led by staff members. One of our goals is to strengthen the sense of community by allowing students to interact with others that they might not see in a typical school day. Crews will meet each Thursday from 8:00 to 8:20. Older students were given the opportunity to select the Crews they were most interested in joining.

One very important logistical note: Crews meet every Thursday beginning promptly after morning announcements at 8:00. Students who are not in the building and in their classrooms by 8:00 (or 8:01) will not be able to participate in Crews that day. All staff members will be actively working with crews so there will not be teachers in classrooms to ensure that latecomers get checked in and transitioned to their crew. Children arriving after 8 will stay in the office with a staff member and join classes at about 8:17 when the transition from crews back to class takes place.

We are excited to start this new program and hope that you will hear from your children about their Crew!

There is no school Monday, the 19th in honor of the MLK holiday. I hope you have a nice long weekend with your families. Winter is back! Stay warm!
