As we return from Thanksgiving Break and look ahead to the final weeks of the semester, I want to thank our families, staff, and students for the continued support you show our schools each day. December arrives quickly after the holiday, and with it comes the stretch of the year when winter weather is most likely to impact our operations.
Because the months of December through February bring the highest chance of snow, ice, or dangerously cold temperatures, this is an important time to review USD 230’s procedures for announcing school closures or schedule adjustments. Our goal is always to communicate clearly, quickly, and consistently so families can plan accordingly and students remain safe.

⏰ 2-Hour Delayed Start Option |
|
|
During the 2024–2025 school year, USD 230 utilized a 2-Hour Delayed Start on two occasions, and the feedback from families and staff was overwhelmingly positive. This option will again be available during the 2025–2026 school year when weather conditions allow for a later—but still safe—start to the day. |

Thank you for your continued support of our students. Each day, I am inspired by the remarkable qualities they demonstrate: their character, their curiosity, their resilience, and their commitment to learning. They are a living reflection of our district’s guiding theme of “Excellence Every Day.”
As we enter the Thanksgiving season, I encourage all of us to pause and reflect on the many blessings in our lives. I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to serve as Superintendent of Spring Hill Schools and to be part of a community that cares so deeply for its children.
In the days ahead, I hope you fully embrace the simple comforts that make this holiday meaningful: enjoy great food without guilt, take a well-deserved nap, spend time with loved ones, and appreciate the people and moments that enrich your life.
The writer William Arthur Ward reminds us, “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” May next week give us each the opportunity to unwrap (and share) our gratitude.
Wishing you and your family a restful, joyful, and thankful Thanksgiving break.
