October 10, 2025
It's hard to believe we are almost mid-October, although the past couple of days have definitely started feeling like the 'fall' season with our very comfortable temperatures. In less than three weeks, Halloween will be here, and as we all know, once it arrives the rest of the year comes fast and furious.
The first-ever ‘School Safety in Focus’ conversation with our school community was held this past Tuesday evening. The conversation far exceeded my expectations, and many ideas were discussed that definitely have potential to be researched further, resulting in enhancements to our existing layers of security. A big Thank You to everyone in attendance, as well as the strong presence from our local and regional law enforcement agencies. If you missed the event but still have a perspective you would like to provide, please do so at this link.
Spring Hill High School ACT and AP scores continue to rise!
For the 2024-25 school year, SHHS students taking the ACT earned an impressive 22.1 composite score —surpassing the district’s strategic plan goal of 22 and marking the highest in the past five years. Meanwhile, during last school year more students participated in AP Exams than every before and performed even better than the previous year.
The annual State of the District Breakfast, hosted by the Spring Hill Education Foundation, will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Forest Spring Middle School. This is a showcase for those in attendance of the many highlights that have occurred within USD 230 over the past year, as well as what is looming on the horizon. Many of our student groups will be active participants. The Spring Hill Education Foundation (SHEF) is a tremendous resource, providing additional funds and support to enhance student learning, as well as awarding thousands of dollars in scholarships each year to SHHS Graduates.
Tickets for this event can be purchased online at this link, or through the SHEF website. Doors will open at 7:15 a.m., with the program beginning at approximately 7:45 a.m.
School will be dismissed two hours early on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, for parent-teacher conferences and fall break. Each school should already have sent out information regarding the format for the conferences. Students will be out of school from the afternoon of Wednesday, October 15, through Friday, October 17, 2025. Classes will resume a regular schedule on Monday, October 20, 2025.
We are inviting parents and community members to serve on the USD 230 District Site Council, an important part of the Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA) process. The District Site Council provides feedback that helps guide continuous improvement in our schools.
As a member, you will:
Participate in district surveys on educational topics.
Have the opportunity to join focus groups as needs arise.
Your voice is vital in ensuring that our district continues to meet the needs of all students, PreK–12, while preparing for future growth.
If you are interested in volunteering, please complete this form by October 24.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to partner with us in shaping the future of USD 230.
Below are the ‘official’ enrollment numbers that were finalized as a result of our count day enrollment, which was on 9/22/25. KSDE pays state aid based on this count day enrollment number. Although our enrollment may fluctuate somewhat throughout the school year, our payment will be based on the enrollment count submitted.
