End-of-Semester Tips for High School Students

As we head into the final stretch of the semester, now is a great time for students to refocus and finish strong. Encourage your student to get organized by checking each class for remaining assignments, upcoming tests, and any missing work. Creating a simple weekly study plan can reduce stress and make big tasks feel manageable. Connecting with teachers early for clarification or support is key.

Effective study habits — like using the Pomodoro method, reviewing old quizzes, and creating practice questions — can make a huge difference. Remind students that taking care of themselves matters, too: consistent sleep, good nutrition, and limiting distractions all boost learning. If stress becomes overwhelming, our counseling team is here to help.

Let’s finish the semester with confidence and momentum!

Counseling Deadlines

  • Dec. 2 - Deadline for juniors to sign up for the Free ACT provided at SHHS.
    • Juniors must use the form emailed to them Nov. 13 to register.
  • Dec. 29 - Semester 2 schedules released on Skyward.
    • This is five days in advance of the start of the semester.
    • All students have the opportunity to select their own courses, and every effort has been made to honor those requests.
    • If a student and parent/guardian wish to request a schedule change, a Schedule Change Request Form will be available from the counseling office on the third day of the semester (Jan. 8, 2026), after the student has attended the class for two days.
    • The completed form, signed by a parent or guardian, must be submitted no later than the tenth day (Friday, Jan. 16) of the semester.
    • Counselors and administrators will review all requests. Please note that approval is not guaranteed — requests must be supported by a legitimate academic reason, and counselors or administrators reserve the right to approve or deny any change. Courses and teacher assignments are determined by students’ pre-enrollment choices. It is important that students make thoughtful and serious course selections, as each change can impact class sizes and staffing.
    • Students will not be allowed to change teachers unless such a change is necessary due to course selection adjustments. Priority will be given to non-scheduled students and JCCC enrollment changes. The administration reserves the right to make course changes at any time for academic reasons.
    • No requests will be accepted after the deadline.

ADMINISTRATOR'S MESSAGE

Dear Spring Hill High School Families,

As we approach final exams, please encourage your student to check their grades and submit any missing assignments they are still allowed to turn in as they prepare for the end of the semester.

A reminder that all students are required to take their finals during the assigned class period unless they have received prior permission from the principal to test at an alternate time.

Thank you for your continued support.

Mr. Kyle Kost, principal
