We’re thrilled to kick off another fantastic year of learning and growth at SHES! To help you stay informed and connected, our SHES Parent Newsletter will be shared monthly. It will include updates on school policies and procedures, upcoming events and important dates, and ways for you to get involved. Be sure to check it regularly so you never miss out on what’s happening at SHES!
Class lists will be available in Skyward on Friday, August 8th at 3:00 PM. We encourage families to log in at that time to view their child's placement. Please note that all class placements are final, and no changes will be made after this time.
Student enrollment is all done online via Skyward. If you have not yet enrolled your student(s), please do so soon. Click here for more information and guidance on student enrollment.
Click here to view the SHES traffic flow map and ensure a smooth drop-off and pick-up. We ask that parents stay in their cars during this time and allow our staff to assist with opening/closing doors to keep the flow of traffic moving.
If you are dropping off or picking up students from the K-1 carline, please remember to not enter into the parking lot from Webster Street. All cars need to enter in from East Hale and then turn left on Race Street to enter in from the back of the parking lot and join the drop-off/pick-up line. Webster Street should be used as an exit only from the K-1 car line.
If you are dropping off or picking up students from the 2-5 carline, please be considerate of others when entering and exiting the parking lot before and after drop-off and pick-up so that everyone is safe during these times and we can keep traffic flowing smoothly on and off of Webster Street.
When picking up students in the car line, you must have your school provided car tag. If you do not have your tag, you will have to park your car and check-out your student(s) from the office. New car tags can be purchased in the office for $2.00.
If you need to make a transportation change for your student(s), please contact the office at (913) 592-7277. All dismissal changes need to be made before 2:30 PM. Changes made after this time can result in miscommunication and students not getting home the way they should. Making changes by 2:30 PM provides plenty of time for our office staff to ensure students arrive home safely.
We are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and positive environment where all students are empowered to learn and thrive. When addressing unwanted behaviors, we analyze referral data and survey results to identify strengths and areas for growth, then unite as a school to celebrate successes and work toward a shared improvement goal. Learn more about how we approach student behavior and discipline at SHES by clicking here.
We believe that strong communication between parents and teachers plays a key role in your child’s success both academically and personally. We’re committed to keeping you informed and connected as we continue to build strong partnerships that support every student’s growth. Click here for more information on how we stay connected and ways you can stay involved. A paper copy of this compact will also be sent home.
Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) provide educators with dedicated time to collaboratively analyze student data, refine instruction, and enhance learning. Click here for more information on PLCs. Please note that parents DO NOT need to sign their student(s) up for Y-Club care in the morning on PLC days as they have in the past.
Before volunteering for our programs, you must follow the volunteer process outlined on the district website. Click here and follow the steps to register as a volunteer and complete your background check. The background check must be completed and approved before you can come in to volunteer. A Volunteer Card will be sent to you once you complete this process.
